I think it's about time for a new post around here. Thus, I present to you:

~The Morning After Meme~
{stolen from fountainofcod}

Your character has just had a night filled with wild, crazy, drunken partying. Inhibitions were lost, and good times were had by all; it's really too bad they can't remember any of it. They find themselves waking up in a posh hotel suite in very unmade bed, feeling peaceful and oddly refreshed (or hellishly hungover, your choice). There's just one problem—who is that next to them?!

❥ Post with your character in bed: asleep, awake, fully clothed, in the buff, in their P.J.s, in someone else's clothes, all totally up to you. …And yes, this time you DO actually have to leave a comment for each separate character you want involved—no muse lists!
❥ Other characters will respond as your character's bedmate.
❥ The two discover each other, and flailing and shenanigans ensue. (Whether or not they actually did anything other than sleep and/or cuddle a bit = up to the players--just make sure you both agree on what happened!)
❥ ?????

[...Just an FYI, humour is the point of this post rather than smut. "Stuff" might've happened the night before so long as both parties agree on that, but in present time, let's just have fun and keep it clean!]

[Yuri comes up just close enough behind her to see past her shoulder, and then steps back a little ways again. Hoo, boy, this place is going the whole nine yards, isn't it?

At her inquiry, he glances around -- but the room's a small one, and he's checked out most of it already... plus he just has A Feeling, given what they've seen so far. Since he's wearing his usual clothes, he checks his right pants pocket -- and yep, go figure, his gald satchel? coin purse? rupee bag? wtf do they keep their money in, again wallet is there.

A good thing, but it's another point of annoyance to note that the mysterious They let him keep that, but not his weapons. Kind of makes him feel like he's being forced to play house for someone's weird taste in entertainment.]

I've got mine on me. [And a glance inside shows that it seems to have all the cash he remembers carrying last.] It's enough for a couple meals back in town, so this place shouldn't be too different. [Unless some jerk out there was mean enough to spike the prices.

He nods at the cupboards.]
Take your pick. This one's on me.

Thanks, Yuri-san! I'll go find my hand-bag after this, then I'll buy next time!

[She doesn't really recognize the money symbol in front of the numbers, so she doesn't know how high or low the prices are, and most o the food isn't 100% recognisable either, but...that one there on the end looks good and the numbers are also lower than most of the others, so...]

That one, please!

[He has to smile that pleasantly-amused smile of his at that first bit. He certainly doesn't dislike her and he can't imagine not wanting to potentially spend time with his new acquaintance again in the future; he just hopes that "next time" doesn't turn out to be another random HA-MADE-YOU-PANIC joke like this one.]

Comin' right up.

[A couple coin deposits into the selected breakfast-bubblegum-vending machine contraption, and then Yuri glances over the cabinet's selection for himself, taking all of three seconds to pick something that doesn't look too outlandish. Said choice looks to be a pair of some kind of iced pastries, apparently with fruit filling or something similar in them.

And as he goes, part of his mind wanders back to his previous statement, his speculation that others have been caught in the same event; with some rather juvenile evil curious amusement, he wonders whether Flynn's been forced to partake in it, too -- and if so, how well that's going.

A moment more and he glances at Sakura again, once again focused on the present.]
Anything else?

[Since, in her mind, it's settled that she'll pay for Yuri next time, the Princess doesn't feel so bad about letting him pay this time; so she'll ask for what she wants, within reasonable bounds. And tea is always reasonable!

She looks up from opening her packet of white-powdered cake-like things to smile at him as she points at the hot drinks dispenser atop the counter.]

Tea, please!

[Of course you can never go wrong with tea -- so Yuri makes that a double order, and rather easily manages to get both steaming cups (made of some surprisingly nice porcelain), his pastries, and a cup of sugar over to the small kitchen table.

It has to be the oddest meal he's ever bought a girl and the oddest circumstances he's ever done it in, but you'd never know it from how casual he's continuing to act.

Good thing he's the kind of guy who can roll with the punches.

And yeah, he totally has enough manners to let her sit down first.]

[Frankly, Princess Sakura's about full up on "oddest circumstances"--weird things have started to become par for the course. After things like getting dropped into the middle of a virtual world or ages-old feuds between rival factions or oppressed villages desperate for aid...eating breakfast in a locked hotel room with a friendly stranger doesn't seem all that bad. She beams at him as he sets everything down, gratefully accepting the hot beverage.]

Thank you again. I'm glad I ended up here with someone like you, Yuri-san.

[He's a good person, she can tell. And Yuuko-san the Space-Time Witch would've said that this is definitely hitsuzen, wouldn't she...]

[Yuri sits, helping himself to some sugar in his tea as he looks momentarily thoughtful at that compliment? comment.]

I guess there're worse people for you to be stuck with. [A brief glance and a half-smirk say he's joking.

A sip of his tea later and he adds,]
Kinda nice eating with someone over something besides a campfire, I gotta admit. [Or a crowded inn dining area.]

[The powdery sugary things turn out to be very tasty, though also pretty messy. Sakura has to dust her hands clean before she can reach for the sugar herself.

She looks up at his comment, a little questioning until she sees his partial smirk, which earns him yet another smile in return.]

So then, Yuri-san travels a lot, too?

More than I used to, but not as much as I did. I usually just travel for guild business now.

...Or I did, before getting sucked into this town.

[She swallows a bite of doughnut, then her mouth makes a small o of impressed curiosity. She doesn't even notice the smudge of powdered sugar on her face, or if she does notice, she's not fazed or embarrassed by it.]

Yuri-san is part of a guild? What are guilds like back on Yuri-san's world?

Edited at 2012-06-09 12:04 am (UTC)

They're pretty much run like a business, in a word. Each guild specializes in some service or craft -- mercenaries, blacksmiths, you name it.

The one I'm in... well, we kind of dabble in everything.

[w-wow that's pretty amazing--a guild that's good at everything! They all must be so talented...and they must help so many people, too!]

Uwah, that's amazing, Yuri-san! I hope you find your way home soon, so you can get back to helping everyone again!

[Sakura seems to be one of those people you can't help but be in a good mood around, circumstances willing -- kind of like Estelle -- so Yuri's attitude is entirely genuine. Not that he'd make much of an effort to fake anything.]

Thanks. I'm hoping so, too.

So, what about you? Any terribly pressing matters waiting for you?

[The Princess doesn't quite seem sad, but she lowers her eyes and her usual cheerfulness is suddenly sorely lacking, replaced by a wistful sort of seriousness. ...Yeah okay, maybe she does seem a little sad.]

My friends and I were on a very important hope I can find them soon.

[He's in the middle of another piece of pastry when Sakura finishes, so he takes a moment to reply.]

From what I've seen and heard, journeys have a funny way of working out when they need to. [His voice is still lighthearted, but there's a slightly sobered sound about it -- a respectful shift, almost, just to show he's taking her worry seriously.]

Even if you're split up, maybe that just means you'll find something worth taking back to them when you get outta here.
